The nutrition industry asks the wrong question

Most nutrition companies start with a benefit they want to sell, energy, immunity, recovery, then work backward to find ingredients that support the claim. The result is multi-component formulas where no single element is present at a meaningful dose, and where traceability is nearly impossible.

We asked a different question. What is the most nutritionally complete whole food that can be grown for daily human use? The answer took nearly a century to produce. Klebsormidium flaccidum sits at the evolutionary boundary between aquatic algae and land plants, the lineage that made the transition to land and carried the genetic heritage of both forward. That dual lineage produces a nutritional profile unlike anything else in the category: complete protein with all nine essential amino acids, beta-glucans, carotenoids, and bioactive compounds not found in spirulina, chlorella, or any other commercially available microalgae.

The origin

ZL01, the patented strain we cultivate, is the result of nearly a century of cultivation science. It began with a collection from an alpine lake in the 1930s, followed by decades of development, and eventually the isolation and identification of Klebsormidium flaccidum as the bioactive organism at its core. It had never been brought to commercial scale for human nutrition until now. Zivolife is the only way to consume cultivated, patented Klebsormidium flaccidum. Ica, Peru

The Alimenta Algae S.A.C. facility in Ica, Peru was selected for a specific combination of environmental conditions: extreme solar intensity, an arid climate, access to clean water sources, and geographic isolation from agricultural and industrial contamination. Zivolife is grown in outdoor open ponds, not photobioreactors, and those conditions are central to the quality of every lot.

Biomass is harvested and processed using low-temperature drying methods that preserve the complete bioactive compound profile. Finished product has a 24-month shelf life with no preservatives.

Quality and traceability

The facility operates under cGMP certification with full HACCP protocols. Every commercial lot undergoes third-party testing at Eurofins Scientific before release, covering full macronutrient and micronutrient composition, a heavy metals panel (lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic), and complete microbiological screening. 

The FDA Foreign Supplier Verification Program certificate has been active since April 2024. No co-manufactured ingredients. No solvents. No additives. Full lot traceability from pond to package.
